Where are Trust Lands?

The Trust currently holds 65 land titles across South Australia, comprising a diverse portfolio of land uses, assets, and lease arrangements.

This land base reflects a deep cultural legacy and services as a foundation for community, cultural and economic outcomes. However, many of the existing arrangements – particularly peppercorn leases – have become unsustainable, limiting the Trust’s ability to maintain, activate, and derive benefits from these lands.

Over the coming years, the Trust will work with commercial lessees to transition towards a ‘Community Benefit Leasing Framework’, which will aim to ensure that land is actively used, properly maintained, and contributes to measurable social, cultural, and economic outcomes for Aboriginal people living in South Australia.

This shift will balance cultural obligations with operational sustainability, positioning the Trust lands as assets that support both present day needs, future aspirations, and long-term, ongoing self-determination.
